How I Made Social Media POSITIVE Again

Hi lovelies,

I don’t know about you but lately there is so much negativity, drama, hate and fighting on social media that it really started to be a very anxious and draining place for me. So I made some changes that have had a HUGE impact on how i feel about it and I wanted to share that for anyone having similar feelings and struggles with it.

Makeup worn:
Dior backstage foundation 4N
Huda bombshell liquid lipstick
L’oreal bendable mascara
Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar bronze and glow med/dark
Mac like me love me blush
ABH modern renaissance…

Do you have the same approach as a creator? Like, do you do the same things on YouTube? Nice video 🙂

Same Facebook is Private and it's mostly Family and close friends, however I just can not do Instagram and Twitter, I only have Facebook and I just don't stray. Some youtubers do give aways I choose not to sign up for any of them because you need Instagram and Twitter and to me I can't get on sites like that I don't wanna get sucked into that lifestyle and feel anxious So I am only in to Facebook and seldomly go on for more then 15mins per day. But it's Great for other people I just totally can't keep up with too many things.😎😘

Great video Charlotte. I'm in a good place with social media at the moment but am always very aware of avoiding the negativity and making sure to check in with how things are making me feel.

Totally agree! I don't have IG or Twitter, but the same thing was happening to me on FB, and I decided to unfollow negative/ rude friends, and set boundaries for when I could go on. It has made such a difference in the past few weeks! xoxo

Great advice for a lot of people especially for younger people who live on social media. I have my instagram jordanmusic66 but I’m not on it all the time. It is mostly for mine and the hubs business if we need it. Also on a lighter note I quit Facebook to get away from some of my family members who are nothing but drama.

This was so good! Very much needed advice! As difficult as it is to set boundaries for ourselves when it comes to our consumption of social media, it is so necessary. I'm going to give the "curfue" a try.
    Great tips, Charlotte!♥️

Managed well social media is great…Social media not managed well can become a nightmare…I love this video because no one really talks about the everyday down side…It’s only talked about if it ends in disaster…Not how it can affect your everyday life
I must sound very old but I don’t have Twitter or Instagram I don’t even have Facebook I’ve never had them I say each to their own I’m a private person….I really don’t want people knowing where I am or what I’m doing……If people want to have them knock yourself out but remember once you put something out there it can never be taken back…

I really hate how kids are affected by social media I think they’re introduced to it at such young ages ….I think children really need to be very careful of what they are doing on social media and their parents must be soooooo aware of what your kids are doing…
    Great Video Charlotte 👏👏👏💕💋🇦🇺

Totally agree how to use social media. I use FB for family and very close friends. Twitter and IG I use as a public forum. I use Twitter for a variety of topics. Cycling, food & wine, health matters, science and some news and politics.
I do review my accounts all the time. I agree with how you handled it

I have stayed away from Twitter and Instagram because of all the negativity and spreading hate, that is just wrong. Thank you for talking about this, most people just don't say anything.

Excellent video. I watch ZERO drama youtube channels. I'm on instagram but only follow about 8 beauty channels. I don't do friends on instagram. I keep facebook just to keep in touch with family and to see pics of the fam and close friends. It is easy to get caught up in all the social media so I keep mine really really small too. Good idea on the time curfew. I need to do that with news channels.

Love, love, love this❤️. I 100% agree with you. Social media can be absolutely toxic, but can also be positive, empowering, and even comforting. It really is how you manage it. As far as Twitter, I think I have an account but never used it. It has just never appealed to me. So to be honest, I can’t fairly judge it.
This video was a nice, fresh breath of air. I adore your strength and positivity🍃🌸.

Absolutely fantastic vlog. 🌹 Twitter is one I so need to sort out. I don’t and won’t play the follow/unfollow game and negative fighting comments, fights, jealousy and whatnot aren’t for me😨. IG I don’t follow many people back other than very inspirational people. Facebook I need to cull a bit, but I mostly keep it to people who are in my life – except I stupidly let a few others in which will be culled. (That sounds horrid, but I mean unfollow). Like you, I found I mustn’t check SM early in the morning or my brain seems ultra sensitive to what I’m reading. I enjoy it more in the afternoon and limit myself to once a day, occasionally twice. I do love YouTube but I’d be a useless vlogger as I’m so introverted, so for me, it’s great to wind down on. Thank you for sharing. It’s rare anyone is so open about SM and it’s negative side.

Social media can take such a toll on mental health, especially in the beauty community. I often wonder if it's worth it but I am addicted to certain platforms at this point. These are great tips.

Another fab video on an important topic thank you Charlotte.
I have been using Instagram for a few months including Trend Moods but never even thought to read the comments! Lol. I’m not going to either after what you’ve said.
I’ve really been enjoying the feeds I’ve subscribed too but never read the comments section on anything on Instagram. I do comment sometimes but the Instagram platform doesn’t flip me into other peoples comments which is good. So I’m not being encouraged by Instagram to read other comments, I think that is a good feature of Instagram.
I’ll send you comments on YouTube but I don’t read your other commenters even though the YouTube platform flips you into other peoples comments during the commenting process. (Well It does when you use the IOS platform – Other operating systems may do it differently. ) Which is not a good YouTube feature if you’re trying to avoid negative comments.
Maybe it’s because I’m older and the internet didn’t happen until I was late 20’s but I don’t understand why anyone would use social media to be negative or personally bash things or people. If you don’t like something just find something else that you do like on the internet- it’s huge and everyone’s interests are catered for somewhere. Although not enough over 40’s are involved in social media makeup.
You don’t hit a certain age and then stop loving or being interested in make up. It’s never been a better time for make up, from the products available and the information and tutorials available to teach you technical tricks to better apply and enjoy the make that up you do buy.
Charlotte you’re like a breath of fresh air in the makeup YouTube world, I’ve really been enjoying your channel. Xx

I deleted my Facebook but before I did I deleted majority pictures and posts. I hated the fact that some guy is making billions off selling my info and the drama of politics and people spamming their MLM business. I use Instagram to see pics of family but I don’t post comments and I don’t follow a lot of famous people. Just Chris Pratt and Ryan Reynolds cuz they’re cute and funny. I like people who have a sense of humor so I follow naturally funny people because the goal of social media is to make you smile laugh and feel good.

I used to live on instagram. I'd go on probably 100 times a day even while I was doing homework and studying which is a big no since it ruined my motivation. A few months ago, I implemented a rule that as long as I'm busy doing something (cleaning, studying, working, writing, etc), I can't go on insta. If I'm just lounging around then it's okay, but only then. That's helped my mental health and concentration so much and sometimes I'll forget for days at a time to check it because it just becomes less and less important the more you distance yourself. I also follow a news page, but the comments can be quite sickening so, like you, I just wouldn't read them. It makes life so much easier!
