How To Install OneNote On Ubuntu Linux (2017)

About this tutorial:

Video duration: 6:10
In this video I walk you through how to set up microsoft office (especially onenote) on you ubuntu linux device

I’m really fond of this software and couldn’t find anything that even closely resembles it on linux. Keep in mind that several features don’t work. Here are the ones that I’m aware of that don’t work

– Synching with onedrive
– Copying-pasting directly

For people that are having problems please check to see if you are running 64 bit linux. If you are, you will need to install the 32 bit architecture before installing wine because wine is 32 bit.

@simon somlai Thank you very much. I finally have office on my linux. I'm running MX-15 (based on debian jessie).

I followed your steps after installing wine and playonlinux using instructions from ask(dot)xmodulo(dot)com site. After installation, when I started playonlinux up and followed your steps it came back with:
    "Error in main
Please install winbind before installing Microsoft office 2010."

So I installed winbind too from the repos. It worked fine after that.

Have you tried to install OneNote 2013? It is supposedly supported since Wine 2.0 but proof has yet to be shown … maybe you could be first?

Hi, thanks for the video, but is it possible to sync onenote from onedrive? Thanks!

    Didn't work for me.
Installed as you say, but as PlayOnLinux finished installation, a bunch of errors showed up regarding "Word.EXE", "OneNote.EXE" etc. saying "Have you installed on default directory?" or something like that.

    Halp 🙁

Thanks for the video. I found that on Linux, much better note taking application is Zim from http://zim-wiki.org/. Feature-wise, compared to onenote, it's very limited. However, the basic functionality is there in Zim. I found also, that I can maintain my notes in much cleaner way than with onenote.

    By the way:
Did you have designed the background picture by yourself? Its great!
I would be glad, if I could download it somewhere.
Perhaps you can help me with this?

Thank you for this Video! I'll try it myself with your tutorial asap.
Has anyone experience, if the digitizer pen will work with an TabletPC like the HP Compac tc4400 in OneNote on Linux?

Thanks for the video. Sad, but without onedrive sync onenote is useless for me. You haven't found any workaround?
