Todoist Premium for $39?!

About this tutorial:

Video duration: 3:28
Todoist Premium could be updating their price. $39 price could be the new yearly price for Todoist Premium and Business. The change from $29 per year is an addition of $10 but it does reflect some of the latest changes they’ve been making. Todoist have partially confirmed.

I’d love to hear what you think about Todoist’s new pricing?
Please note, this is all speculation.

I'd be ok with the price increase but I want to see them add a LOT more features to compensate

Price increase for a to do app? It's an insult for 39 usd a month. I would leave it for ticktick

Not a bad increase at all, think I could compete with yourself Francesco, on how many productivity tools I have tried out and Todoist is pretty much the most feature rich software on the market. $39 per year is not expensive, Todoist is worth it.

Thankfully, I just paid for a year last month, so I won't have to worry about this for awhile, but next year I will definitely have to reconsider. It has been invaluable to me this month because it's the only software/app/website I've ever used that has actually helped me move beyond being stuck with the severe ADHD I have due to a frontal lobe stroke. But with only $10K disability a year for all my needs (except medical), I have to cut corners everywhere. Instead of raising the fee for premium across the board, they should take a better look at having a premium solo individual plan that maybe doesn't sync with phone. I wouldn't be able to do all that I do with just the free version (I need many recurring tasks just to keep up with daily grooming and taking meds, for instance), but $40 is too steep to pay for a year when I am not using it for work purposes and only use it at home. Those using it for their work and thus essentially making money from it should be paying more for those who cnnot and only use it for personal tasks (though many to try to get their lives moving forward again).

I would have to see what their redesign looks like before I spent more money on it and not before.

As much as I love Todoist, because of the new sanctions against Iran and being a student, 39$ is way to hard for me to gather. Just to give a sense, it ends up about a fourth of my entire semester's tuition. Or about 50 hamburgers, or 400 pens. It's WAAAAAY too much for me to handle right now.

$39/year? Why is the price so LOW? I spend more than that for my weekly groceries, and I charge at least $30/hour for contract work. I will never understand why people are so freakin' cheap. I only make about $23,000/year (far below the average U.S. household income) and I still think it's dirt cheap. If Todoist feels expensive at $39/year, you probably don't need any apps for managing tasks at all.

My Todoist premium just expired. I haven't renewed it yet. I've been looking at ClickUp and some of the other Alternatives out there that don't cost anything. If they raise the price it would be pretty hard not to justify switch to another platform that doesn't cost anything. I really miss being able to add comments, which is surprisingly a premium feature. If they raise the price of Todoist, they would do well to grandfather in existing customers.

Although any price increase is not welcome news on anything, I would be happy to pay more for Todoist. It is ubiquitous, robust and core to my working process, has adapted to various jobs and working environments I’ve had in the last few years and allows me to share tasks with my wife and child at home. For me, the cost and risks of getting to know another potentially less mature system outweigh spending a few dollars for a continued great and familiar service.

Todoist isn’t perfect and can be improved. But it works great for me right now so I’d stay a happy customer.

I wouldn't mind an increase, I'm a long time user, everything goes up eventually. However, another re-design doesn't interest me without some major upgrades. 1) major upgrade to comments (notes) is needed 2) Third viewing panel so comments doesn't cover the screen 3) End dates are nice, but end times would be nicer 4) Label (tags) management 5) an upgraded today screen ; just for starters.

Ridiculous. That's the end of Todoist for me then. They barely bring out new features when the application desperately need some. Just bringing updated icons and a dark theme won't cut it. Besides there are many good alternatives for less.

"Stability" is pretty much the last word I'd use to describe Todoist's MS Store app, that thing's so crash prone it's not funny. It's also kind of meaningless, thankfully, because the web app is considerably better and more feature-rich.

Todoist has NEVER been worth the outrageous prices they charge, even before any kind of price hike. There are so many other excellent task managers with either cheaper yearly fees (e.g. TickTick) or blessedly only have a one-time cost (like 2Do), the fact Todoist charges what they do just makes them look like scam artists more than a legit company.

Not only do they not warrant those kind of exorbitant fees, but it’s pretty terrible they still wind up topping most techie’s top task manager lists like… pricing should be a bigger factor, y’all. Like tech bloggers can afford it because it’s their job, but most people can’t just throw that much money down the drain on a flipping todo app.

Also the fact Todoist hobbles their free tier so much, such as not even offering reminders, is another reason it’s just a shit company out for your money. When there are so many other task managers with fairer pricing for their features, Todoist has never been and never will be worth it.

When you see 33% price increases, I wonder where inflation figures come from 🙂 Between Todoist and Evernote, I think it might be time for a bit of a productivity rethink

I think this price is fair. This app is so powerful and it does so much for me. Also with the redesign I am sure they are needing the funds to move it forward

    Manuel Thallinger

    (September 24, 2018 - 8:36 pm)

Nope, thats too much for such kind of applikation. Compared to O365, Gsuite , Prime this price is nuts, its just a todo list app . If Todoist wants more Cash Flow they can do that ( maybe they want to be more attractive for an Aquisition from someone else ? !?!?!), but they can be certain that they might lose many people

    Andrew McCann

    (September 24, 2018 - 8:36 pm)

Nope. There are other good options for less, like GQueues, Ticktick, or rememberthemilk.

I believe Todoist is worth it. That price is reasonable as long as stability is there and updates/features still come in.

39 USD is around 2100 PHP. That's more expensive than what I pay Evernote. 🙁 But Todoist has become an integral part of my workflow (I blame you. Haha) so I'm not too sure what to do.

Disclaimer: I am on free right now.

Todoist is much more pricey here in Germany. They charge 32€ while 29$ is only about 25€ right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if this difference gets even bigger with the new pricing.

The only thing interesting in premium is the notifications, everything else is not worth the upgrade in my opinion. And a device specific feature (notifications on Android, Webbrowsers and the desktop don’t need to be processed in the cloud, no idea about iOS) isn’t worth so much money over a year.

    😱😱😱 😥😥😥
Todoist should consider variable pricing at country level.

In most of emerging markets, currencies have corrected/fallen a big time against USD. Now this increase will make todoist more costly.

Eg USD was at the level of INR:64/per US Dollar in February when I renewed, now it is at INR:73/per USD. Experts are expecting more currency depreciation in near future.

In short now Todoist Subscription is more costly than my Smart Phone.

    😥😥😰
