Most useful video on cascading dropdown! I have this video bookmarked and refer to it every time I have to make a cascading dropdown.

This work, until form submission. The following error: only positive integers allowed. I changed the fields to not required and that didn't work. Anyone have a solution?

Hi! This video really helps a lot, when I was struggled like anything to create cascading drop downs in InfoPath. I have a doubt would like to create cascading drop downs using muli-selection list box. However am able to create multi selection list box for first level only depend on another box, I need 2 levels. am unable to create the next level of dependency based on multi selection list box. Is it possible?

You're a lifesaver man! Every other solution I saw had me mucking around in jQuery and messing with settings I can't get within a mile of. Given how click-heavy setting anything up in SharePoint is, your solution was pretty straight forward and your explanation easy to follow. And thanks for adding in that clear entry rule at the end. I'm sure that saved me future hassles and tutorials. 🙂

Hi Bill, I was able to create it by following your video, great effort….However, I have a query – I am trying to use your cascading column logic for four SharePoint lists:1. Main Region, Region1, Visit Location1 and Health Centre.2. I want to a user to choose Main location, cascading values to Region1 and further Visit location1 and Health Centre 3. I was successful in creating cascading column between Region1, Visit Location1 and Health Centre but when I added Main Region Sharepoint list, I couldn’t do between Main Region and Region1Any suggestions??RegardsGuri

Would this be possible using a checkbox selection instead of a drop-down? For example, have the 'State' field remain a drop-down list, but then make city a checkbox selection instead? So multiple choices are allowed? I tried to implement and your implementation works fine for me if they're both drop downs, but I change to a checkbox selection it doesn't work. Thanks!

I know this is an old post, but I wanted to say thanks. I used this today to build a 4 tier cascading drop down and it worked perfectly.

Thanks! Got mine working after watching this. It's no surprise that Microsoft over-complicates something that on the surface appears to be easy.

This is helpful, however you have the nosiest mouse in the known world.  The only way it could be louder is if it had and amplifier and shouted, "I'm clicking!!" every time you pressed the button.   HELLA helpful video!  Why isn't sharepoint more intuitive!!??

How would you implement the drop down functionality demonstrated in this video in a SharePoint 2010 Survey?

Thanks for this! I have to say that it is C R A Z Y to have to go through this many keystrokes to put something as simple as a Cascading Drop Down together. What I'm wondering now is, is this horrible process indicative of what else lies ahead on the road to learning SP for me… if so, I'm starting to second guess whether it's the tool for me!! This is some kinda' inefficiency Microsoft has put together here….

I have spent WAY to much time trying to figure this out. The one missing piece was creating two lists instead of one list as the lookup. The one list kept giving me an error that "only positive integers were allowed." The filter of the data didn't work with just one list. This method worked perfect the fist time. I can't thank you enough.

Very Helpful! I needed this as a function to track our Licensing and Vendor info. Made it easy for our team to just select "Adobe" and then select the specific product associated with it such as CS4. Added a field for user(s) and license key. All set.
