Hypothesis 4 in the beginning: These websites don't write articles to be informative, but they write articles so they show up high in google search. Because that's where they get read, and that's how they earn money… Yeah this stuff sucks. You don't need to produce a good product, you need to produce one that the algorithm likes.

@44:50 that's fair but wouldn't you agree that with a certain amount of publicity/fame, your public identity is turning into something that may be called a "brand".

38:50 THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS RANT! I've had a sense of the exact same thing for a long time, but I've been too soft to call it out and treat it like the bullshit it is! Thank you for being a true inspiration and showing that it is ok to have standards around thought. Thank you so much.

Hey George, I don't think the comments about mask wearing were supposed to be political in any way. I'm from Germany and here everyone wears a mask no matter what you think since it's about the safety of others and trying to minimize the spread as much as possible, cheers 🙂

I'm happy to have discussion on voice chat, if you are willing to discuss this then we can talk on here! 😛

Missed the live stream but watched the first hour of this, interesting idea George. I don't know if you have come across Refind.com it's a plugin as you describe that links into Google results.

The main goal is to make things you have seen before easier to find again and share with friends. It also sends out reading list emails so you can go back and read saved items. This was the platform I moved too after Kifi was acquired and killed by Google. It was a great bookmark replacement tool and search engine for building lists.

I believe search engines replacements have been tried in the past and what would stop you from being acquired and shut down or simply pushed out of the competition by these giants?

Keep dreaming and building. I'm sure you would be interested in AlwaysAsking.com a new website by Jason that aims to answer complicated topics in a scientific manner.

Good stuff. One comment on the length of the video. It's too short.

7:18 why are you even going to the website to search? Just add it to your search engines and search directly from the address bar.

I wonder if you're not able to find what you're looking for because what you want no longer exists. People today would go to FB groups to get their answers. I'm chatting with someone right now about it. https://www.facebook.com/groups/foreignersiceland/permalink/10158832786351600/

curation of opinions and experiences is hard. What I do is curate people and let the information come in, or I simply ask. Like if I really wanted to know this, I'd search for Iceland Expatriates and then ask people questions.
