How to Add Policy Templates (.admx, adml) in Local Group Policy Editor Administrative Templates




About this tutorial:

How to Add .admx & .adml format policy template files to Administrative templates of User configuration in Local group policy editor.
Steps to do:
First download and extract the required policy template files.
Copy .admx files to ‘%systemroot%policyDefinitions’
Then copy .adml files to ‘%systemroot%policyDefinitionsen-us’
Then close & reopen the group policy editor, Now you can see the policy templates under Administrative templates of User configuration.
Note: Right click Administrative Templates to Add/Remove policy templates doesn’t show the policy template files like .admx & .adml.

    Hi,
    I followed exactly your steps, but the files not showing up in local group policy editor. Nothing happened.

    I copied office16.admx and outlk16.admx files to '%systemroot%policyDefinitions'
    I copied office16.adml and outlk16.adml files to '%systemroot%policyDefinitionsen-us'
    Open gpedit.msc, under Administrative templates, there are no office and outlook folder there.
