My steps inspired by this confusing video:
1., "Other Windows downloads" / "Can't find the file you want? Find more in .NET Core 2.1 downloads." –>, on the right "Run apps – Runtime" / "Runtime 2.1.6" / Windows / "ASP.NET Core/.NET Core: Runtime & Hosting Bundle"; instaLL this on the server

    2. iisreset (beware! run it when people don't work on the hosted webs; will restart all webs, e.g. forgets their sessions)

    3. in the web project's folder, run "dotnet publish -c Release"

    4. on the server create the folder for the web app and copy there the inside of (you project)binReleasenetcoreapp2.1publish

    5. in the IIS, create the app pool: ".NET CLR version"="No Managed Code"

    6. in the IIS, "Add Website" or "Add Application" under a website (as a subfolder), choose that app pool

Thanks for the overview, was the clearest walk through I have seen. Everything worked great!

I'm a little bit confused, because you did the publish to a folder saying that we should copy those files to the server, but later on when you create a folder on wwwroot (dotnetmvc) you put inside this folder the content from other folder called MVCApp. Why you didn't copy the content inside the folder "binReleasenetcoreapp2.0publish"?

Jeremy, how yo do to publish the .json files? I have an include entry in the publishOptions section, but the .json files are not included. Thanks.
