Thanks, Jade! as always another great song and tutorial. Really hoping to pick up a MPC LIVE for myself this summer.

Nice job on the video, your very fast on that MPC live. I am fairly new at it. Just picked up a Keylab 88 to hook up with it. I write in the styles of classic rock with influences of jazz, fusion and blues. I am watching videos to learn the best way to match these machines to suit my creative workflow.

Can you really use MPC Live as a synth – looping single cycle waveforms as an oscillator, shaping with filter/envelope ?
Or are you just limited to regular sample playback?

For some reason when I try to use the electric piano it sounds like in sine wave. 😤It clearly says plugin -electric piano

How many octaves can be played with synth sound? Or just range if those 16 pads?

Are all of these sounds coming right from the live itself, and if so, are there alot of instrument and synth sounds to choose from?

How many notes on the keyboard will the MPC let you play at once? Voice polyphony?

This is some random nonsense. I "produce" stuff like this with ableton live lite with my lame novation pad in 20 seconds.

Great vid. Many have said the MPC Live doesn't have a proper synth engine, but that's not true.. all the elements of great subtractive synthesis are present. In the 1990's my go-to live synth was the Akai S3000XL sampler, loaded up with modular/analog waves. This guy shows a good example of how to get those results with the Live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDhbHIPGg8k

Woooah! Wait a minute- now THIS looks like the piece of kit I'm after! I really liked the OP1 video you made, but this thing…well, it's an entirely different beast! Perfect for a simple studio-jam set up on the fly. Thanks Jade! Awesome channel!

Does anyone have tips for making a synth where each note is a separate sample? Setting up 50 key groups is taking ages

well mpcs and midi instruments are synths. they are still a type of synthesizer and in the synth family, they make synthetic or syntheized instrument sounds and they are electronic powered instruments

you have the truth in your words, yes, a sampler is a synthesizer, who said it is not a synthesizer? so is.

Here a guy makes great synthesizer sounds, from a drum loop with an akai s2000 sampler.

I have beatmaker3 on an ipad and find it to be the best in order to catch sketches and ideas when on the move plus the ableton export function is very practical if you use ableton. This here looks like a better version of my setup cause it is hardware and i don`t have to be afraid of how hard i hit the pads and also pads feel better. Need to think about his Mpc. A nice machine. And nice demo

Can this do motion sequence and control another instrument via MIDI? I want to be able to automate my other gear with my sequencer.

This is awesome. Have you tried using the OP-1 as the midi-controller on the MPC Live? I'm really curious to know how the synergy is between this and the OP-1, as I'm planning on getting an MPC Live, next week.

I’m just looking for a live beat machine that can loop (my own samples), so I can then play guitar and sing over. I don’t particularly need all the other features this has… any cheaper alternatives? Standalone is something I need however as I can’t risk taking my maxed out laptop into the messy bars I play in. Would appreciate any advice, thanks!

I hope those stock synths sound better than that, where are the atmosphere , string and acoustic guitar sounds

I’m sure it’s a helpful video but the overabundant use of the woodblock makes me tune out.

Can this be done with the MPC Touch?

This is NOT using a mpc as a synth..
What I do is sample my gold, chop by note, set each sample to ping pong loop, note off, filter, tune, play to taste.

Hi there, do you know if it's possible to play a wav sample chromatically, like it was an instrument? I've just got a MPC Live and can't figure out if it possible. Would be useful for single cycle waveforms. Hope you can help!

    (February 17, 2020 - 9:31 pm)

Nice, I've been looking for sound examples of the MPC instruments. They sound great, thanks! Have you tried running some of the instruments through onboard filters and envelopes for even deeper expressions? If the Live is capable of this I may not be able to resist.

Stacking some single cycle waves and demonstrating the envelopes, filters and fx would have been a better demo… thanks though
