2 Factor Authentication keeps your Apple account safe, but it can stop you from accessing your iCloud.com email address using IMAP.
The answer is to request an app-specific password.

You will need the following IMAP settings to get your email app working.
Incoming server: imap.mail.me.com
Incoming SSL: Yes
Incoming port: 993
Incoming username: Your iCloud email address
Incoming password: Your app-specific password
Incoming server: smtp.mail.me.com
Incoming SSL: Yes
Incoming port: 587
Incoming username: Your iCloud email address
Incoming password: Your app-specific password
