I can't wait for something to happen here. I'm getting a lot of pressure to "Organise" the Power BI workspace experience, which is fun. Is there going to be a need to migrate from workspace v1 to workspace v2? and is there an easy way to do that?

    Hi,

I am trying to work out my net adds for the month.

    • In excel I filter on the Start Date column i.e. October dates only.

    • I then need to sum the quantity column.

    • Leaving the filter on the Start Date column I then filter on the service End Date Column for October dates only. – I then sum the quantity column

    • I now have two sum figures

    • I take away the SumQuantity for Start Date & SumQuantity for Service End Date to work out my net adds

Can anyone advise which would be the best Dax formula for this?

I can post data if need be.

Great to see this said publically, I've been warning my userbase to move away from O365 Modern groups (teams) to host Power BI content. From memory it was somewhere between 12 – 18 months to stand up the specific Power BI Workspaces and their biggest advantage is that you can nest O365 Modern groups in them rather than have to name names. I've all in favour of the transition, rip that band-aid off Microsoft, but I know you'll anger a lot of people when you do stop the O365 Modern Groups working.

Let’s hope this is sorted out soon: it’s such a pain for those trying to keep a handle on the ‘governance’ side of self service BI

I've been struggling with this same issue when creating OneDrive/SharePoint Online storage spaces behind V2 workspaces. Since they don't get created by default in V2 workspaces I have been creating them manually with the same name as my V2 Workspace. This works and the OneDrive storage space can be tied to the V2 Workspace and documents can be published to the V2 Workspace from it. However, when you create the OneDrive/SharePoint Online space it automatically creates a V1 Workspace in Power BI, resulting in 2 workspaces with the same name tied to the same OneDirve/SharePoint storage. Like you noted, if you delete this V1 Workspace in Power BI it deletes the OneDrive/SharePoint space as well. Very unfortunate. The result is I have to keep all these duplicate ghosted Power BI V1 Workspaces around cluttering up my tennant. I have a bug submitted for this issue.

I was just struggling with groups / teams yesterday and so am very happy you published this. Hopefully the final answer is better in both PowerBI and teams. Thank you!!!

Would you recommend not putting any Power BI content in this V1 workspace? I’m suggesting people shouldn’t but would be interested in your take.

If you delete the workspace, will it affect the (team) group in any way?

I think I only have classic workspaces in our org then, we use teams as the distribution platform for PowerBI ATM, is that possibly why I can't share datasets across workspaces? I'm sure I read somewhere that you need the new app workspaces to share datasets or do you just need the build permission?

I've always wondered why this happened. Thanks.
